Title: Engineered Micro-Nanotechnology Platforms for Biomedical and Biological Studies: from Platelet behaviors, Interactions between Neurotransmitters and Neurospheroids, to Pathogen Detections

Abstract: Micro-nanotechnology platforms have emerged as powerful tools for biomedical and biological applications because of their unique advantages: miniaturization, high throughput, precision, sensitivity, and cost-effectiveness. These platforms typically involve the use of micro and nanoscale devices and systems that are engineered to perform specific functions, such as cell analysis, drug delivery, and biosensing. In this seminar, I will introduce several on-chip biomedical and biological studies enabled by micro/nano devices, including the study of platelet behaviors, interactions between drugs and brain models, and pathogen detection.

Bio: Subin Mao is currently a PhD candidate in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University. He received his B.S. degree and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in 2017 and 2019, respectively. His research interest is to utilize engineered micro-nanotechnology platforms for biomedical and biological studies, such as on-chip study of platelet behaviors, interactions between cells and drugs, and pathogen detection.
