 Biomimetic microsystems

Progresses in microfabrication techniques allow us to mimick the biological systems with unprecedented accuracy. We focus on developing unconventional techniques for facile realizations of physiologically realistic bioMEMS. Examples include:
  • Sugar-based fabrication of 3D microfluidic networks mimicking biological vasculatures

  • A bio-inspired optical gas flowmeter based on stretchable optical MEMS

 Optofluidics
  • A novel liquid-core waveguiding scheme

 Plasmonic metamaterials

 Plasmonic enhancement of photovoltaic action
