David J. Lilja (BSCpE ’81) is the Louis John Schnell Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and the department head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also serves as a member of the graduate faculties in computer science and scientific computation at the University of Minnesota, as well as a Fellow of the Minnesota Computer Institute. Previously, Lilja worked as a development engineer at Tandem Computers Incorporated in Cupertino, California. He received his master’s and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lilja is a Fellow of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and is a registered Professional Engineer.
