Timothy Denger from the Iowa State University Police Department and Julie Saxton from the City of Ames are giving a presentation/workshop for ECpE students, faculty and staff about mental health awareness and resources on campus.

The goal is to provide a snapshot of common issues and resources that are available for students, faculty and staff. These typically include anxiety, depression, suicide and loneliness/relationship issues. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

Timothy Denger has been a police officer for over 15 years, currently serving as a Detective in Threat Assessment and Management with Iowa State University Police. Detective Denger currently is a Crisis Negotiator and a Trainer for Mental Health First Aid, CIT and Tactical Patrol Medicine.

Julie Saxton is a mental health advocate for the Ames Police Department. She acts as a liaison between law enforcement, consumers and providers, working to help educate and provide services for those struggling with mental health and substance abuse with support and appropriate resources.

This event will be held in person in the Coover Hall auditorium (room 2245) and will also be streamed over Zoom at the following link: https://iastate.zoom.us/j/97172142807.

This event is being held for all students, faculty and staff in ECpE, but any others who would like to attend are welcome.
