Title: Bid-Based Transactive Energy System Design for Integrated Transmission and Distribution Systems

Abstract: The increased use of variable energy resources in power system operations at both the transmission and distribution levels poses significant challenges to power system operators tasked with maintaining system reliability. System operations at both the transmission and distribution levels will need to be changed in order to ensure a continual balance between supply and demand for power. Consequently, a study of design changes for the operation of Integrated Transmission and Distribution (ITD) systems is needed. The availability of smart technology for the management of distributed resources provides an opportunity to consider these issues from a Transactive Energy System (TES) design perspective. This presentation will cover how bid-based TES design for ITD systems can achieve efficient balancing of supply and demand.
