Title : Applications of point-of-care optical biosensors for biomolecule detection.
Abstract : The talk will discuss about an overview of optical biosensors and their applications for biomolecule/biomarker detection for point-of-care applications. It will cover a generalized discussion on the optical biosensors. A detailed fabrication, modelling, and features/ performance of two optical different biosensors related to diseases like sepsis and diabetes will be presented. A future perspective on point-of-care sensing will also be discussed.
Bio : Souvik Kundu received the B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India. He received his M.Tech in VLSI & Microelectronics and M.S. in Microelectronics & Photonics degrees from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and Iowa State University, Ames, USA in 2014 and 2019 respectively. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA. His current research interests include biosensing, modelling, fabrication, characterization of sensors and clinical data analysis. Mr. Kundu was the recipient of Institute Fellowship from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, India for 2015-2017 and was also two-time Teaching Excellence Award recipient from Graduate College, Iowa State University for his outstanding contribution to teaching at Iowa State University in 2018 and 2020 respectively. Mr. Kundu worked as a full-time Graduate Technical Intern at Intel Corporation for 1 year between Summer 2019-2020. Currently Mr. Kundu is working remotely as a full-time employee at Intel Corp. as a Product Engineer since June 2022.
