Presentation skills are a very important and somewhat overlooked aspect of graduate school education. Whether you are looking for an academic or an industrial position, your research work is definitely important and matters a great deal in landing the initial interview call and the eventual job.

However, comparing researchers is often like comparing apples to oranges by someone who may or may not appreciate either. The one aspect where you can differentiate yourself from the competition is in delivering well thought out and effective presentations, which serve to convey your enthusiasm, expertise and skills.

This workshop is aimed towards graduate students in the program who want to enhance their presentation skills. We will focus on techniques for structuring your talks and pitching them at appropriate levels to audiences while respecting time constraints. While language skills do play an important role in this, prior preparation and practice can go a long way regardless of your comfort level with English. The workshop will be conducted over four sessions, where we will do mock drills as well.
