Senior Director, Transducer Design, Seagate Minnesota
Yonghua Chen, Ph.D, is currently the Senior Director of Transducer Design at Seagate Minnesota. Dr. Chen joined Seagate in 2000 and has held multiple key technical and managerial positions within Seagate. Dr. Chen participated and led the recording head development of more than ten generations of HDD products, launching industry leading technologies, such as Tunneling MagnetoResistive (TMR), Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) and Shingle Magnetic Recording (SMR).
Dr. Chen obtained his B.E, M.E. from Tsinghua University, China and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Iowa State University. He also holds EMBA from Carlson School of Management at University of Minnesota. His areas of expertise include digital data storage, new product development, quality test and control, product yield management, and technology development management.
