Freshman

Electrical Engineering

Class of 2010

Hometown: Marion, Iowa

Why I Chose ISU: I chose Iowa State University because it has a very thorough engineering program that ensures students get the education they deserve. Iowa State University and the College of Engineering provide multiple opportunities for students to develop their abilities through events such as the career fairs in the fall and spring semester, and also by having an array of clubs and student organizations to choose from.

Favorite Thing About ISU: My favorite thing about Iowa State is all the activities available for students to participate in.  I’ve found several leadership positions during my first semester at Iowa State through my residence hall house (Tilden) and student organizations. During the fall semester, I served as the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Floor Representative for Tilden, and in both semesters I’ve been the project leader for one of the competition robots in the ISU Robotics Club. Also, the Freshman Honors Program has allowed me to take certain classes exclusively with other honors students, and has given me the chance to work with a professor on a research project. I attended both career fairs to look into possible internships, too.

Student Organization Involvement: Freshman Honors Program, ISU Robotics Club, Iowa State University Cyclone Football “Varsity” Marching Band, Critical Tinkers, ISU Karate Club (tae-kwon-do), and Women in Science and Engineering.
