Our undergraduate and graduate programs provide students with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in electrical and computer engineering fields. Students have the opportunity to interact with our departments' diverse student and faculty population, plus students obtain practical experience to prepare them for exciting careers. We strive to become one of the nation's top 10 electrical and computer engineering programs.
Iowa State University is home to nearly 26,000 undergraduate and graduate students—1,200 in the ECpE department. The park-like campus is located in Ames, Iowa, within a six-hour drive from Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, Kansas City, and just 45 minutes north of the Des Moines International Airport. Ames is a small city with a metropolitan atmosphere. From intercollegiate Division I athletics such as basketball, football, and wrestling, to world-class entertainment (performances by Kenny Chesney, Incubus, Dave Matthews Band, Cirque du Soleil, and the Prague Symphony Orchestra to name a few), Ames has got it all.
