Senior Vice President-Corporate Services, Kansas City Power and Light

As Senior Vice President-Corporate Services, Michael Deggendorf oversees KCP&L’s construction organization, including the $1.2 billion environmental retrofit project at the La Cygne generating station and nearly $500 million in transmission construction. In addition, he is responsible for the business continuity, corporate safety and facilities departments and the company’s new transmission partnership (Transource Energy® LLC),

Prior to this position, he served as senior vice president-Delivery, where he led KCP&L’s distribution and transmission operations, engineering, customer services, and transmission policy & compliance divisions, with specific responsibility for regulatory compliance with FERC and NERC rules and regulations.

Deggendorf has more than 28 years of experience in the energy and telecommunications industries and has held positions ranging from operations and marketing to regulatory and governmental affairs. He joined KCP&L in 2002 and, in addition to his current responsibilities, he also has led the sales and marketing, public affairs and government affairs functions.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Iowa State University, and he has completed graduate work at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and University of Iowa. He is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
