Abstract: Single Inductor Multiple Output (SIMO) power converters are very attractive, since they offer high efficiency with reduced cost by requiring only a single off-chip inductor. However, they suffer from poor cross regulation and still require multiple off-chip capacitors. Recent proposed Dual-Frequency SIMO (DF-SIMO) converters reduce the output capacitor to levels where they can be integrated on-chip. However, to maintain reasonable ripple voltage, the load current is limited. This talk describes how SIMO converters and DF-SIMO converters operate, and tackles the limitations of DF-SIMO converters by proposing an on-chip 3-order notch filter at each output of the DF-SIMO converter.
