Laboratories and Equipment

As part of the Information Infrastructure Institute (iCUBE), Iowa State University has acquired cutting-edge research equipment and created several top-notch research laboratories.

Equipment Highlights

  • IBM BlueGene/L Supercomputer: This supercomputer was brought to Iowa State in early 2006. At the time it was acquired, it was ranked within the top 100 fastest computers in the world.

Laboratories

  • Griffin High-Performance Distributed Computing Laboratory
  • High Performance and Specialized Computing and Networking Laboratory: This lab uses FPGA technology to implement network control and computing algorithms.
  • iCUBE Wireless and Sensors Networking Laboratory: iCUBE faculty Daji Qiao and Srikanta Tirthapura established the new Sensors Lab for experimentation
