Research Projects

The Information Infrastructure Institute (iCUBE) conducts cutting-edge research in several areas. The research is of growing interest to a broad spectrum of companies and will foster further collaboration between Iowa State University researchers and industry.

Currently, our research involves the areas of:

  • Novel sensors
  • Wireless technology
  • Specialized microcontroller architectures
  • Parallel algorithms
  • Operational decision-making
  • Tools for analyzing and transforming complex software

This research focuses on developing enabling technologies with applications for:

  • Energy systems
  • Safety-critical avionics systems
  • Agriculture engineering systems
  • Water and agricultural systems
  • Numerical weather predication models
  • Transportation systems
  • Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES)

Additionally, the technologies being developed include mechanisms for trusted, embedded, and high-performance computing; intelligent software development; data storage and transaction processing; real-time scheduling; and rapid prototyping using reconfigurable hardware.
