Impact

The work done by the Information Infrastructure Institute (iCUBE) has great implications in education and industry in the state of Iowa and the entire United States. Since iCUBE began in 2002, the institute has:

  • Formed new interdisciplinary research groups: Energy Project, Bioinformatics, Agricultural and Biosystems and Sensor Network, Nano-Interrogation, Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) interface
  • Supported pilot projects that are likely to succeed
  • Set up sensor networks and high performance computing labs
  • Created an annual Distinguished Lecture Series for students, faculty, and staff
  • Significantly accelerated IT related interdisciplinary research

iCUBE plans to continue making impacts in education and industry on statewide and national levels by enhancing learning and scholarship, providing guidance and continuing education opportunities to industry professionals, addressing the needs of IT professionals, and promoting the development of new IT technologies and their applications.
