Even though the initial process of transferring to Iowa State University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering might seem daunting, you will find a patient and helpful staff of advisers waiting to help answer your questions. This page provides you with a guide of tasks to do in order to make the transfer process go smoothly.
NOTE: Bring all of the books, syllabi, course notes, homework, tests, and quizzes from your transfer classes when you come to Iowa State. This will help you greatly in getting your courses accepted at Iowa State.

| 1 | Students are admitted to Iowa State through the Transfer Admission Office. Read all the links available on the Transfer Admission Office Web page. These links contain all the information you need except for the detailed course transfer process that you work on with the department. |
| 2 | Contact the ECpE department advisers after being fully accepted into Iowa State and the College of Engineering. The advisors will review your record and give you an estimation of how many credits we will accept into our program. |
| 3 | Attend the Transfer Orientation process. At this orientation you will get an opportunity to meet with your advisor and talk about your transfer courses. Advisers will follow the Transfer Course Evaluations rules along with you to help get as many of your courses applied to your degree program as possible. |
| 4 | At the orientation, you will be asked to take a Math Placement Exam unless you have credit for Calculus I and II. Also, you will be asked to take an English placement exam unless you have credit in Engl 150 and Engl 250. |
| 5 | At the orientation, you and your advisor will prepare you to register for classes. You may need to stop in the Enrollment Services Center to finish registration. |
