Traditional Ph.D.
The traditional Ph.D. is for a student with a master's degree who has decided to pursue a research-oriented career. View the department's supplemental rules (pdf) for degree requirement details.
Direct Entry Ph.D.
The direct entry Ph.D. encourages a student to work toward the Ph.D. without having (or getting) a master's degree. The benefit of the direct entry Ph.D. is that the student can obtain a Ph.D. within four years.
