Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Graduate Level Course Requirement (Qualifying Examination)

In addition to the Qualifying Examination, students are required to take 5 courses that will provide breadth to their program of study.

All five courses must be taken at Iowa State University, with at least one course to be from outside the department (400-level or higher) and the remaining to be taken within the department. The following list of courses CANNOT be used to fulfill this breadth requirement within the same area that you are taking the written examination.

You may include any other graduate (500-level or higher) courses that are not on this list from within your area or all graduate courses outside the area.
