Utility Wind Integration Group Power Engineering Scholarship
The Utility Wind Integration Group is offering up to two $2,000 scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited engineering school who are pursuing a career in power engineering with a focus on wind generation. Apply by January 15, 2010.
ISU All-University Leadership and Academic Excellence Award
David J. Henry All-University Leadership and Academic Excellence Award available to a senior student (current juniors can apply). Financial need is not a criterion; award is $2,000. Deadline is December 4.
College of Engineering Scholarships (continuous)
The College of Engineering at Iowa State University offers scholarships to incoming freshman, transfer, and current students. Applications are due February 1 each year. Visit the college's scholarship Web site for more information.
Roy J. Carver Scholarship - Iowa State University
Scholarships are available to students with great potential and promise who work hard to make ends meet, or are faced with debilitating circumstances in their lives. Twenty Roy J. Carver Scholarships are available to ISU students or transfer students who will start their junior year fall semester of the award year. Awards average $5,200 each and will be considered for renewal for the senior year based on maintenance of a cumulative GPA of 2.80 and continued financial need. Apply online at www.carvertrust.org. Application deadline is April 1, 2010.
2010 CyberCorp Fellowships
Federal Cyber Service: Scholarships for Service for graduate students is available. Graduate applicants should possess (or be receiving) an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with a GPA of at least 3.2. The fellowship includes all tuition, room, board, books and fees, as well as a $12,000 annual stipend. Ten awards are available. Applications are due March 13, 2010.
NASA Internships and Fellowships (continuous)
More than 200 NASA Education Associates Internships and Fellowships are available. Students who are U.S. citizens and enrolled at any U.S. college are eligible. The program is year-round and students receive a monthly stipend for participation. Students can start and stop at anytime. See application and other details.
ISU Undergraduate Research Assistantship Program (continuous)
Iowa State's Undergraduate Research Assistantship (URA) Program encourages outstanding juniors and seniors to pursue graduate studies by offering them hands-on experience in a formal research environment. To qualify for the URA program, students must be classified as a junior or senior by the beginning of fall semester, demonstrate financial need by filing the FAFSA, and maintain a ISU cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. First-year students can earn up to $3,200 and renewal students up to $3,600. View the application forms and other information.
NSF Sponsored Research Opportunities (continuous)
Visit the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergradautes Web site to explore hundreds of opportunities across the United States (including at Iowa State). You can search the NSF site by keyword or academic discipline.
$4000-5000 Undergraduate Research Grants & Internships (continuous)
The American Public Power Association (APPA) awards student research grants/internships each year to students interested in energy-related areas as part of their Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) program. For more information, visit APPA's Web site.
Department of Homeland Security Scholarship and Fellowship Program (continuous)
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) offers the DHS Schoarship and Fellowship Program. The competition provides financial support for approximately 100 Scholars and Fellows. Applications are due in early January each year.
