Srikanta Tirthapura

Srikanta Tirthapura is a computer science researcher and teacher, and is currently an associate professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University. He received his B.Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 1996, and his Ph.D., also in Computer Science, from Brown University in 2002. At Brown University, his research was supervised by Prof. Maurice Herlihy, and he wrote a dissertation titled Distributed Queuing and Applications.

At Iowa State University, he researches techniques for building efficient distributed data processing systems. His current focus is on processing massive data streams under the memory and bandwidth resource constraints imposed by the environment. He is also interested in distributed coordination and data processing in wireless sensor networks, and in energy-aware computing. He teaches courses on the algorithmic foundations of computer engineering and networking.
